But that was before Massive Open Online Courses, or MOOCs.
MOOCs are online courses with no limit on the number of participants. Many are free with the option of paying for a certificate of completion.
As the associate vice president for distance education for the University of Nebraska system, Niemiec has seen the growth in online education options. More students are enrolling, and the University of Nebraska’s MOOC offering might just make that number skyrocket. Niemic doesn’t want to estimate how many students will enroll, but in looking at other MOOCs offered by Big Ten Conference universities, it’s likely to in the thousands. More...
