Internationalization of Higher Education: Growing expectations, fundamental values – IAU 4th Global Survey
This latest edition of the IAU Global Survey drew completed questionnaires from 1,336 higher education institutions in 131 countries – thereby making this report the largest and most geographically comprehensive collection and analysis of primary data on internationalization of higher education ever undertaken.
By assessing internationalization trends over time and comparing development across regions, the 4th Global Survey provides unique insights on the internationalization process, its benefits, drivers and also underlying values.
The 4th Global Survey benefited from the Support of the European Commission, NAFSA: Association of International Educators, European Association For International Education (EAIE) and the British Council.

Decline in global demand for English higher education

Graduates who combine adaptability with specialist knowledge most valued by employers
A report released today by the National Centre for Universities and Business (NCUB) and funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) has found that being able to adapt to change and perform different functions adds significant value to the specialist knowledge of graduates.
The report entitled ‘Career Portfolios and the Labour Market for Graduates and Postgraduates in the UK’ is the first in a series of NCUB reports commissioned by HEFCE on business requirements for graduate and postgraduate skills.
Employers said that in some sectors the degree subject is no longer sufficient to identify the best candidates and that in a modern economy they seek agile staff who can adapt to rapidly changing conditions.

New higher education campuses: Letter from BIS to HEFCE
HEFCE has today received a letter from the Minister for Universities and Science on new higher education campuses.
He has asked HEFCE to consider how the removal of the cap on student numbers from 2015-16 might contribute to the development of new, collaborative approaches to tertiary provision in areas which currently lack these facilities. HEFCE will work with higher education institutions, the Skills Funding Agency, further education colleges and Local Enterprise Partnerships to offer advice by Autumn 2014.
