Price-fixing claims at British universities to be investigated by watchdog

British universities are facing a fees investigation after a new report warned that students paying up to £9,000 for teaching may not be getting value for money. The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) is expected to call for a full inquiry into “anti-competitive” practices such as restricting applicants to a choice of just five universities and preventing students from applying to both Oxford and Cambridge.
