Erasmus+

http://www.eaea.org/kuvat/EAEA-logo-2010.gifThe current Lifelong Learning Programme ends in 2013. Erasmus+, previously known as Erasmus for All or YES Europe is the new EU programme for education, training, youth and sport. It is estimated to start in January 2014.
Background
European Council endorsed Europe 2020 Growth Strategy in June 2010. The reform agenda aims to assist Europe overcome from the crisis, coming out stronger through a strategy for inclusive, smart and sustainable growth. Education and training are at the core in reaching the aims of Europe 2020. The planned regulation, Erasmus for All, sets out the provisions for a new single programme covering education, training, youth and sport.

Past events
26 June 2013: The agreement is reached and the new programme name released.
Spring 2013: Trilogue negotiations between the European Council the Commission and the Parliament.
December 2012: Beginning of the unofficial discussions, including at least the Commission and the Parliament.
November 27, 2012: Vote upon the Draft Report and amendments in the Committee on Culture and Education, European Parliament.
November 26, 2012: The Council for Education, Youth, Culture and Sport takes place in Brussels. The Council will take note of the state of the play of the Erasmus for All.
November 6, 2012: Discussion on the Draft Report in the Committee for Culture and Education Culture, European Parliament.
October 2012: Tabling amendments to Draft Report.
September 2012: Draft Report of the Rapporteur Doris Pack presented in the Committee for Culture and Education.
July 2012: Hearing in the Committee for Culture and Education, European Parliament.
May 2012: The Proposal is debated in the European Council.
December 2011: The Committee referral announced in European Parliament: Committee of Education and Culture will handle the proposal.
November 2011: The Commission presented a Legislative Proposal for establishing a new programme for youth, training, youth and sport for 2014-2020. The Proposal was debated in the European Council.
