Graduates face being left with debts of almost £26,000 after universities revealed that the cost of a degree course would rise to a new high next year. Official figures show that annual tuition fees will increase by around two per cent to an average of £8,647 for new students starting in 2014. Almost three-quarters of universities and colleges in England will charge the maximum amount – £9,000 – for at least one course, it emerged. This is up from just six-in-10 in 2013. Read more...
