21st ANNUAL WORKSHOP BERLIN (GERMANY) 11-14 SEPTEMBER 2013 - CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
The 21st annual workshop of the European Research Network on Transitions in Youth will take place in Berlin (Germany) on 11-14 September 2013.
The workshop will be hosted bythe research institute WZB (Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung).The Network welcomes contributions on all aspects of the transition from youth to adult hood,and particularly the transition from education to the labour market. Contributions are particularly welcome on the theme for this year’s workshop, which is:School-to-Work Transitions in Times of Economic Crisis:Causes, Consequences and Remedies.
Since 2009, the economic crisis has put pressure on national economies and labour markets allover the world, but the burdens are unequally distributed among different social groups.Young people are among those who tend to suffer most heavily from economic downturns.However, as in times of prosperity, the consequences for young people vary considerably across countries. In some countries, the youth unemployment rate recently exceeded a level of 50%, while in others we hardly observe a remarkable increase. Institutional factors and their interrelations play a crucial role in how they catalyse the crisis’ impacts across different national contexts. SEE MORE.
For papers to be made available in advance to workshop participants, final (electronic)versions should reach the local organisers at the very latest by 15 August, 2013.
