Interesting Discussion on MOOCs in the LA Review of Books
By Hilary Culbertson. Today, the Los Angeles Review of Books published MOOCs and the Future of the Humanities: A Roundtable (Part 1) by Ian Bogost, Cathy N. Davidson, Al Filreis and Ray Schroeder. Part 1 of the roundtable features a short essay by each author about their experiences with teaching and MOOCs, and later this weekend Part 2 will feature a continued discussion among the authors with responses to each other's ideas.
You should definitely take a moment to read this opening discussion. There are interesting perspectives on subjects ranging from student-led teaching, to inter-generational dialogue, to the inequalities in the higher education system in the US, to the changes needed to encourage global collaborative learning, to the tension between startup and learning institution.
