HEA sponsors international Assessment in Higher Education Conference
The Higher Education Academy (HEA) is one of the sponsors of the international Assessment in Higher Education Conference. The event will take place at the Maple House Conference Centre in Birmingham on 26 and 27 June 2013.
Assessment is a key focus for the HEA. As the national body for learning and teaching in HE, the HEA works with higher education institutions and others in the sector to improve the learning experience for students.
Dr Erica Morris, Academic Lead (Assessment and Feedback) at the HEA comments: "We know from our work across the higher education sector that enhancing the quality of assessment and ensuring it is an integral part of the student learning process is a high priority for higher education institutions. The HEA's recently published, 'A Marked Improvement' builds on at least a decade of research and established good practice to provide a framework for higher education institutions to enable significant change in institutional strategy.
"We are delighted to be sponsoring this important conference that will bring people together to debate current themes and issues emerging from practice at the discipline or cross-disciplinary level, and/or empirical work in the field, including those that relate to engaging students in assessment and feedback and to assessment for learning."
Specifically, the HEA is sponsoring the poster competition, the winner of which will receive an iPad. The conference is still accepting proposals for posters on the conference themes (deadline for submissions is 1 May 2013). Full details are available here.
We are also offering four bursaries for early career lecturers or researchers. Full details are available here.
