Union representatives of Higher Education and Research sector in Europe met in Leuven

The EI Pan-European Higher Education and Research Standing Committee (HERSC) met in Leuven, Belgium, from 14-15 October to discuss the challenges confronting the sector in the European region.

The Committee members were also in Leuven for the final event of the joint project with the European Students' Union (ESU) on student-centred learning.
Besides the ongoing matters on the issues related to the Bologna Process, the main issues on the agenda concerned the latest EI International Higher Education and Research Conference held recently in Vancouver, preparations for the next European Higher Education Area (EHEA) Ministerial Meeting which will be held in Bucharest, Romania, in 2012, preparations for the upcoming Higher Education Caucus and the 7th EI World Congress in Cape Town, South Africa, in July 2011.
Bert Vandekendelaere, chairperson of the European Students' Union, was guest of the meeting. He thanked the Committee members for the close collaboration ESU has enjoyed with EI.
The next meeting of the Committee will be held in Copenhagen from 7-8 March.
